Hot Coil & Occasional Cutting Out - 1990 T3 2.1 Digifant

So, I know it's been covered but check this one, so Engine starts to warm and does long runs lovely, however on short runs Supermarket etc we get a cut out and upon cooling (about an hour), she restarts but a bit lumpy fast fwd to new coil fitted (after diagnostic revealed no hi tension when warm). Got non Bosch replacement from VW Heritage, runs fine for 5 days - Supermarket car park, same scenario, coil is red hot!!!! me and the recovery guy put on the old coil - perfect, we drive home - so, is it the coil at fault or is it a points fault or other fault making the coil overheat??
Recently had new spark plugs, new dizzy cap, rotor arm and HT leads, lo tension supply is good.
Any one had similar situation? Any advice welcome.
Thanks.

That should be electronic ignition... If it is, then you need to replace the TCI (black box on aluminum heat sink) unit too

what spark plugs fitted ?
what leads ?
Digifant ecu controls the timing so no seperate TCi unit
could it just be corroded connections onto the coil ?
what happened first the breakdown when hot or fitting the new stuff ?

Thanks Aidan,
Clean terminals, not sure what make leads and plugs to be honest? Will check.
First thing was cutting out on round town journeys (i alwys think speed bumps make things fall off LOL), ohms meter tested lo tension, all good, intermittent spark for HT, when engine cooled completely, would start up again perfectly.
Thoughts?
