Hi,

I have a 1981 2ltr Aircooled T25 petrol. I'm tying to change the spark plugs but there seems to be confusion at GSF as to which plugs I require.

Do I need WC77, WC88 or WRC77? I was firstly given the WC88 but then changed for the WRC77, as I cannot find WC77.

Does this mean that I have double resistor, should I take these back and then order online?

Help appreciated.

Well not quite, Brickwerks are selling wr7cc for the 2l

Originally W8CC was specified, after the reduction of lead in petrol the plugs didn't need to be so hot to burn off the lead deposits so the specification was changed to a cooler W7CC plug. You can use either, if the van has done some miles and sips some oil then the W8CC would be better to burn off oil deposits. You don't need a WR plug there is already enough resistance in the HT system.

Thanks for this. The problem is that the local motor factors only has WR spark plugs. Is it ok to have resistance in the plugs and leads?

Yes. it's ok, they will work (though if it were I, I would order some of the non resistor plugs online)

Hi Martin,

Tha Ms for the link but I have phoned them and although the hey are listed as w7cc they are in fact wr7cc. The guy there said that the old ones are now obsolete. Who would have thunk it would be so hard to work out the correct spark plugs.

I always use NGK plugs, from the NGK partfinder site they specify B6ES / stock no. 7310 for the 2 litre CU engine.

I should have given you the link to Green Spark Plug Company straight away......I have bought stuff from them in the past, they offer an Aladdin's Cave of older obsolete ignition parts and very well priced too.

The WR7CC plugs are just the same and would work just fine... these are fitted with resistors for radio suppression (so you telly doesn't go fuzzy when you drive past.
