Wiper Blades Lifting

Hi, I have a feeling I know what the answer to this one will be, but in case i'm off track and there's a different fix, here goes:
My wipers wipe the screen when parked, however when i'm on the road the blades don't touch the screen. even at low speed. I am assuming the fix is a new set of wiper arms as the springs appear to keep the wiper blades pressed against the screen and they are 1990 origionals.
Just in case anyone asks, yes I have changed the blades, plus slightly increased the bend on the arms to increase the pressure, all no no avail.
Many thanks
Paul

I bought replacement wipers with deflector blades (not sure what you call them) on to help keep them down. Have you tried that?

Bosch blades?
Not sure but I don't think you can get new arms anymore

Good point Kev. My replacements were Bosch. Don't buy cheap alternatives with wiper blades or tyres. Your life is too important!

Mine clamp on to the screen as though their lives depended on it. Make sure they're lubed at the hinge pin too - that can make a lot of difference. I don't use Bosch blades. I used to in my Beetle days but seemed to be forever replacing them. There are some very good alternatives out there these days but best to avoid the very cheap ones yes.

Thanks for the replies so far, I had blades with deflectors / spoilers on at one point, they were slighty better but not enough to make any significant difference. Massive variation in cost of wipers but I tend to find they all last a year regardless, agree not buying budget cheap types however.
I have never lubricated the arms so that will be worth a try. Quick search pulls up brand new arms, so they are obtainable for a price.
