Devon roof help please

So I put the roof up finally and it has seen better days but hopefully is salvageable. Looks to be missing some of the metal skeleton - where do I buy this? It doesn't hold itself up, I presume a changing of 4 struts will rectify this? Is there no inside support? Also the skeleton is attached with duct tape at present- I'm guessing not an original method.

This is the busted hinge? Is it just a case of drill out old rivet and put in new 4.8mm rivets? Would this being loose explain the overhang of the roof. The hinge is rear right and overhang is front left. Stupidly don't have a pic of the overhang but here is the hinge!

New gas struts will sort out the roof staying up problem. You could cut some fabric into small strips and glue them on to replace the duct tape. I would redrill the holes in the roof slightly bigger and use a bigger rivet. They are the weak point of the roof. :ok

The roof only has three ribs:-

And the ribs were originally attached by glued canvas I think.

The photo above is from this page, very useful for seeing what was originally in a Devon!

oh and as for inside support, there isn't anything as standard, as the struts should hold it. My struts are only just about capable of holding the roof up, but I add a wooden prop at each end if anyone is sleeping up there to be safe!

If you buy new struts, be careful not to put in struts with a significantly higher load rating, as i've seen pics on here somewhere where hinges and mounts have been popped off and the roof frame deformed.

Thanks. Should the hinge be really hard to get to line up (ie really tight)? Do I do it roof up or roof down? Still not sure how to line up the nearside front overhang!

Cheers

Try to remove the horizontal struts before refitting the hinges, I found these struts pushed the roof over quite a bit, the horizontal struts apply 800 newtons (80 kg) I think, that is a lot of force on the roof. You might need to prop the roof as well
