I'm hoping santa might bring me some axle stands this year - would anyone care to recommend some suitable for the heavy end of a T25? Also feel free to warn me off any to avoid....

Toolstation do some rated at 3000kg per stand i.e. 6000kg for the pair which sell for about £22. They'll be more than strong enough.

45 gallon drums are handy, gives a lot of access when working underneath, you may need to upgrade your jack though!!!

As long as the stands are a known brand they wil be ok i.e. Sealey, Draper et al.
I have a couple of pairs of small 2-tonne and a pair of Sealey 6-tonne that are ideal for when you need to do a big lift, such as an engine removal.
Then you will need a hi-lift jack to suit, Weber Hydraulik are good for the money.
Its not that you need big tonnage rating, but as the max lift increases so does the SWL.

I would also point out that a T25's jacking points/chassis legs are already high off the ground so given the choice, higher extending stands are preferable.

I find myself over obsessing on Axle Stands..
Originally I was going to get the Clarke 6 Tonne Ratchets as they have a good maximum height @615mm. But then I see the SGS-Engineering which have an additional safety pin but only go to 425mm.
I'm assuming I should go for the taller as they would give more flexibility whilst the additional pin might be to solve a problem that doesn't exist with the ratchet system?

the sgs says 6 ton but study the stand and they are 3 ton , weight wise fine (as in safe ) but not much lift , go for the clarkes, they are really stable and i have a pair or two and find them fine
