Hello,

My new van has the original black and white TV in and I really want to get it working, Does anybody else with the original TV have it working or is it even possible?

If not what has been the most effective way of fitting a TV into that space? or what have you done with the space instead?

Just out of interest and something to do over the winter

I Can't help with the B/W TV but must point out that now were all digital the old analogue TV won't be much use anyway...

I've got a small 12v Kogan TV/DVD and Avtex arial, it just tucks away in a cupboard when not in use.

I thought as much, the TV is just to cool to take out the van haha

Just run it via a plug in free view box like everyone did when digital first came out. Probably need a sml inverter too to power it.

Wont work unless the freeview box has uhf modulator. Most don't have

An rf modulator to convert scart output from free view box to UHF coaxial for TV is about £15.

You can get a mini freeview receiver that plugs directly into a scart socket eg on rf modulator. I've got one, menu is not the best but works fine and has PVR functions with SD card fitted.

What a faff to get a tv working ..and in B&W.!
I think you need to rethink the difference between "cool" and junk.

I would try to find a new tv that fits in the cabinet.. even fits inside the old tv case
Then you can turn the colour off

I agree with kev, just mount a more modern tv or custom built pc behind the old case.

How about converting to a goldfish bowl?

Open my cupboard up and you're watching a pressure cooker and assorted pans. (in 3D colour)

I just thought it would be a nice touch to get it going again, as you know Kev, I have a flip down Avtex TV/DVD below the cupboard; could have both

I'll probably just take the easy buy a colour TV that fits option, It will be a shame as the B/W TV's original but oh well.

I just wasnt sure if anybody out there had even turned that space into something different? I guess not.

Autohomes just left it as a very large storage space if the prospective purchaser did not select the T.V option.

Have it as a cupboard for pots and pans and fit a flip down telly mounted under it.
