SA front callipers

Hi guys,
Any of you have the SA front brakes? I need some discs and don't know which ones to get. My van is a bit of a mixture of early and late parts so it's anyones guess. I believe the pads are the same as a Volvo 440 or an XR4i. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Needless to say, I've been investigating this for a while. Heritage have no stock, only 1 disc on the shelf in Hannover  I have been talking to another 2.6 SA owner and we are looking to import a batch, I need a couple of pairs to stay on the road.
Only a small cost saving over using Heritage but they are glacially slow in restocking: I asked in July!

Part# 22S 615 301 and yes it is a unique part, local market.

Pads are Delphi 587 iirc, commonest 80's F..d fitment.

IMO its not very good prectice to stock full 2.6 brake kits but not carry the necessary service parts to support the sales.
These discs were just under £90 each late July 2014.
In SA you can buy them in any motor factors for well under £30 each...

Not exactly consumables at that price are they?

What alternative big brakes are out there?

Phone BG Developments and ask if they can do you a pair of bells to suit an off-the-shelf AP disc.
No bodging required.

Really? Happy to be corrected but I always though they were circa 260mm dia? Should be about 45mm tall from back friction face to wheel mounting surface.

I had word from SA that the discs were made in Germany, would be amazing if the part has been re-used.

Unless there is an early and late brake package for the 2.6 SA's. It still has to all fit inside a 15" alloy wheel and 280mm sounds a bit big to me.

Unless of course Heritage are buying in cheap cadddy discs and turning the o.d. down...hence the /V suffix?

I went out and checked on my 1995 2.6i (first year for vented brakes) and defo 260 dia, prob. originally 22mm thick max, now the wrong side of 20. Outer braking surface to wheel mounting face approx. 24/25mm but no more than that.

APEC data wrong or x-ref error.

PS I used f..d XR4 front pads, Delphi LP 587

PPS Thanks for the welcome technical distraction. Needed that :)

Hmmm. Mercs were made in SA, rusty C class estates spring to mind so there might be a parts crossover...
