My mechanic is giving me the run around at the mo,which is typical when only a small job is needed !

Lots of people on here are always saying do it yourself etc, Id be happy to with some guidance/help.

Im North London based and near the A1 so willing to travel up the A1 far as Bedfordshire I guess or your welcome to come to the suburbs !

I can offer lots of tea and plenty of beer for your time ? Or I can donate up to £40 to a charity of your choice ? This is the cost the mechanic would charge me.

So are there any takers ?

Only £40 to do this on the outskirts of London. Bite his hand off!

They are easy to change pal. get a 8mm combi spanner and 10mm 3/8 drive deep socket and extension and ratchet. 8mm spanner and telescopic magnet is handy. Those 8mm nuts on end of glowplugs are a s*d for dropping on engine. remove the copper strip once all the nuts are removed. Then get the socket on a 8" extension and rachet and remove them all. When replacing glowplugs try n screw them in with fingers so you dont cross thread them, then tighten a little with ratchet n socket.

Just don't let them cross thread on the way in. This is what caused the head on my old CS to crack

Did my mate's a while ago, couple of hours tops if you've never done them before. Put the rear wheels on ramps to save your back

Some of the above advice is far from usefull! The glow plugs are 12mm with 8mm nuts holding the buzz bar on...a socket won't go even near onto two of them unless you remove the fuel pump so a ratchet spanner is the best weapon to select, they are not so bad to do once you get stuck in if a little fiddly.

£40 sounds a good price, it's a sod of a job even with the injectors out.

Are you sure they all need changing? Just one dodgy one will make it difficult to start. You may be lucky and find its just one of the easy to get at ones.

Mechanic said it was very fiddly...If id had the right tools and the glow plugs hadnt rusted them selves in then maybe I would have had a go myself !

What is the name of the garage that did this work for you? Would you recommend them, as reliable places within the M25, that don't rip people off, are as rare as hens teeth?

I totally would recommend him hes a mechanic in the army ( actually now teaches about diesels on tanks so there's nothing he doesn't know about diesels !) who has his own business as well.
