Choking Rythmicly

Funny problem this morning when driving into work, trundling along at about 100-110kph and the engine seemed to be going a bit flat, sort of loosing power, but in a rthymic type fashion. Its hard to describe but it was almost as if it was choking.

I've not run it low on fuel, so should't be crap in the carb. It only appeared after I'd driven about 10-12 miles. On MOnday it stalled when approaching a set of lights, just died on me, which was really handy as I've got a sticky starter motor and of course it wouldn't start so had to jump out with my trusty hammer!

I've not checked yep, but could it be knackered plugs, clogged Air Filter, etc? Basically its probably due a service.

I think you've answered your own question there Owen
check the basic stuff and work from there ..
Also if your choke was sticking chances are it wouldnt start when its hot ( ie when it stalled at the lights)

I kind of worked it out whislt typing :D

The none starting when hot was down to the starter motor, turn the kick and click............few whacks on the starter later and vvrroooom

bit of the old 3in1 required on choke mechanism
is it a dg/pierberg?
check choke pull down unit while your at it (vacuum varies amount of choke), diaphragms bite the just, suck it and see...

No problem with the choke, its more the engine was feeling choked whilst driving along............fuel starvation/intermittent flat spot or icing up?

Possibly but it only appeared when the engine got hot.
