How exactly do you get into the roof bed on a pop-top?

I don't have one but am looking at a spaceroofs Westy conversion. My question is, how do you get in the damn things? They look too high to climb into and I've seen very few ladders for the job. The Westy conversion especially looks even more difficult because your feet go at the back, therefore there doesn't seem like there's anywhere to lean on. What does everyone do?

Or get a folding ladder - we got one of these:

We stand on the toilet box - no problem!

Thanks. Seems a bit agricultural, I'm surprised no one has come up with something specific for the job.

What...like a step that fits into the front table bracket...

Or fits onto the table leg itself....

Foot on buddy seat, then work top and up. Or CVC step. Or a Westy ladder (which we had but never used).

Anyone know of decent cheap folding ladder as Maplin's seem to be constantly sold out.

Amazing - a problem I never knew I had!
I bought my Westy new in 1986 (29 years old next January). At that time the kids were 2, 6 & 8. The 2 year old slept in a hammock over the front seats, and lifting the two older ones into the roof was no problem.

Now it's just me I don't often use the roof bed, but the way in has always been: one foot on the "buddy seat" or loo box, then one on the cooker top and you're in.

Keith,

I'e got lots of pics, but actually it looks much the same now as it did in 1986.
Apart from a bit of rust bubbling in the seams and windscreen bottom corners; new weel trims and spoiler fitted about 5years ago, and seat covers (I had a dog).
Interior is almost perfect - Westfalia workmanship and materials were excellent.

Only reason I've still got it is I can't find anything newer that would meet my needs as well.
This year's long trip was to Poland & Czech Republic: 16 days, 3500 miles, overall avge 29.4 mpg (Who says DJs are heavy on petrol?)

Sorry to drift off topic.
