drop in power

Hi iwas driving back ftom work friday at a steady 55 mph with about 20 miles to go all of a sudden just a drop in power did managed to get home with my hazerds on on the slopes was only doing 5 to 10 mph then it would pick up agian its a 16.00 diesel got home turned the van off then back on it started ok but seemed to be a bit flat any ideas got work tomorrow cheers bri
