Cost of respray ?

Toying with the idea of having the awful black hand painted bottom of my van resprayed to match the rest of the van.
Went to see my mate dave the sprayer who had a look and said £700 to sand off the paint to bare metal prime and spray, not to much rust and respray. Does this sound about right ?
I should have asked how much to do the top half with a spray over and compared
Here's a pic
Thoughts?

Vans are normally sprayed black around trailing edges to hide rust damage. A van of that age needs sand blasting and panels replaced where necessary usually. You can't just sand it and then spray paint to match the top. That is likely to be just a bodge job. Also the original paint will be faded so it would not match.
Once all the work has been done the whole van will need to be re-sprayed. That means taking all doors and other bits off, windows out, light fittings, and all extra bits off to be done properly. My guess is to be done properly it will cost at least £3K. We need close up pictures of all panels to give better advice.

Good points
The panels are pretty rust free will take pics tomorrow
The reason last owner painted it black was because he lived in the German mountains and during winter the bottom got very dirty, or that's his story ! But rust wise it ain't bad ! Some of the paint picks off and underneath is the yellow in mint condition, I've tried this in several random places and not found any rust yet. Rear wheel arch is bit crusty in one spot.
Good points ralf85 £3000 i don't have !
What alternatives could I do ???? Pick paint off

if I could I would !
Use a rubber sander to remove paint ? It picks off with a finger nail if you find the right point.

Perhaps it looks worse close up but I quite like it, gives the van an industrial sort of look which would govwell with some heavy duty tyres. There's always the rustoleum dvd from Covkid (I think) if you really don't like it as it is now.

Without sand blasting the black paint off you will not know what rust it is hiding underneath. You need to read today's discussion from Petal or type 'cost of respray' in the search function above to understand the topic to get your head around this.
