Hi, I have just bought a 1986 1.9 petrol T25, its a long time since ive had a vehicle this old and am not sure if I should be using lead additives when filling with fuel, there seems to be some different views on this. Does any one have the definitive answer ?

I suppose you are aware of the MPG of these old ladies, the only additive you will need is a deeper pocket.

T25s were set for unleaded from the off. To be honest there are very few lead-only heads around now. Applied mostly to bugs and bays and with most of those having had rebuilt engines with newer hardened valve seats etc, there can't be many left if any now. The myth continues though, as well as the one about 009 dizzies being ideal on T25s and webers better carburettors.

Welcome to club 80-90 by the way :ok

Tell us a bit about you and your new T25.
Have a look in our "wiki" knowledge base, there is a link to it right at the top left of every page on here and it is full of must read useful info :ok

Thanks for the info and welcome to the club. My van is a 1986 1.9 water cooled high top, she is in need of some work inside to improve the comfort level so the wiki forum will be very useful. Mechanically she is sound and has only done a genuine 50.000 miles with very good body work. I do have some issues with the window rubbers which slightly leak so any advice on changing these would be gratefully received. :D
