Has anyone installed a permenant usb charger? ie something like this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-Dual-Car- ... 2a42ac9acd" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If you have what product did you go for?
I ideally want to install a cigertte lighter and seperate usb charger in the cab somewhere. Where would you install it?

Good find that! cost me loads for for my blue sea Usb socket.
Wired my Usb up to permanent supply from Radio with an in line fuse
Also fitted 2 lighter sockets 1 permanent live and 1 ignition fed (use that one for the dashcam)
Had to drill a few holes in the dash tho.

We have one that looks the same as the Ebay one,an option was to have a second one with a small digital volt meter, both of these are connected to the leasure battery on a small plate behind the seat. Ihave wired in a switch and fuse so I can turn the volt meter off at night, it's a bit bright otherwise..

Is there any current drain on those USB chargers when they are not in use?
(Has anyone measured it?)

I just purchased one that looks the same as your link with one side USB w/ the two different amperages and on the other side is a voltmeter. I haven't mounted it in my Westy yet, still thinking over locations. I may swap the voltmeter for a single faceplate instead of using the double.
One of the USB outlets that I do have mounted is on the side of the kitchen cabinet, I like this spot for charging cell phones and they are handy while we are on the bottom bunk. One of the other USBs I have is built into my inverter and it is mounted behind the drivers seat on the kitcen cabinet and one is part of my radio up front.

Its good to see what you guys have come up with. I think the frist one i get will definitly be going in the cab.
@pete That is where my only 12 socket is too. Makes things a bit restrictive.
I can't plud into the radio as that is always playing music off a USB.
Some good ideas though, thanks!

We have two Blue Sea ones (from CVC). One installed in the dash with a cigarette socket, the other up the back on the left edge of the Westy cooker unit next to the table and bed.

The Bluesea chargers give out 2.1 to each point even when two things are plugged in (doesn't split 2.1 in half) and being marine grade the quality is right there. They actually charge stuff rather than just keep things alive. Most of our customers at shows that buy ours are replacing past ebay purchases.
I hope this helps,
Jed

I got one of those dual USB chargers off fleabay too. I put a switch to it as the blue led remained on, indicating the charger was running all of the time

Finally I was able to reposition my USB outlet and replace the cig socket with the voltmeter. Now to find a new home for the other USB and cig socket I have?
