Hi. Had a complete loss of power going into work today just as the road started to incline then it packed in at the lights. Managed to get it to start again but only enough to get it to limp into a side road. Had a check of a few bits as suggested on previous posts on similar. Discovered the end of hose going to airbox temp controller was cracked so patched up with tape, van started up and off we went.

Anyway, getting to the point, I'm going to replace all the vac hoses but why are some braided and others only braided on the ends? Thanks.

the vac pipes are usually now made from PTFE tube with a thicker synthetic rubber connector to seal the connection against leaks
the braiding is to strengthen the connecting hose.

It's not needed so much these days as the newer connectors without braiding are just as strong.

Thanks, makes sense after seeing what's available on Brickwerks. September was oily bits, October wet bits, now November will be about airy bits.
