A 2.0 litre 924 engine has the same bell housing bolt positions as the five cylinder Audi engines, seeing as how the 924 used an Audi engine and was originally meant to be badged as an Audi, so would bolt onto the gearbox using SA bell housing, clutch etc. The 944 2.5 litre would need an adaptor plate. Not sure about engine mounts etc, but would seem a lot easier to go to Golf GTI or Subaru engine.

Cheers dude . The big question is cost . I can have a 2 litre engine anĸ gearbox complete but will i have to change my gearbox? It is a fully rebuilt 2 litre box . It looks as if the standard box will not be up to the job. Have you done this conversion to your van as i do not know anybody who has but everyone tjat has not gone down the subaru road has stuck with vw because it was cheaper and easier. I just dont wamt to be stuck with a busted engine again in two years time . My original vw block was a 2.1 and had only done 70.000 and it was so bad it is a giant door stop now. The engine was only four years old . The rebuild company did not change the camshaft and it seems a lot of them do not change the cam as standard.

Your box will be fine. Only thing you may want to do is get the 4th gear changed to increase your cruising speed.

Although the two boxes I've used for scooby conversions were from watercooled busses but sure the belhousing is the same. I run 220bhp through my present box/bus and 130 through the last bus with no problems

Oh and to answer your question did I do conversion. I done the ej22 conversion on last bus but bought the h6 bus from a mate. The install is pretty much the same for any normally aspirated subaru engine. gets a bit trickier with the turbo lumps. The conversion isnt to difficult tbh. If you can rout a few cables and change a clutch and follow instruction you should be ok
