Having successfully converted all side/indicator/internal lights to LEDs I've now turned my attention to the headlights on my T25. Yesterday I took out the dipped/main beam lights to see what was fitted. I was amazed at the wattage of the bulbs, and slightly amused by the "Not for use in Europe" label

Has anyone else used 100/80 watt H4s?

I'm considering dabbling with the HID bulbs on offer on eBay which offer 12000mcd at 35 watts - any one used these?

Your lenses are not designed to take HID bulbs.And will be illegal.use Nightbreakers and do the wiring upgrade,its in the Wiki.(button at top of page)

Shame - brighter lights but lower power consumption is a tempting option?

I understand there are problems with HID beam patterns and their potential to blind oncoming drivers. There are H4R (reflector type) bulbs now that are supposed to reduce such problems. The Nightbreaker solution sounds like the easy, sensible option though.

some proper LED headlights are being sorted by a few suppliers. Relay upgrade makes a big difference on standard lighting.

Glare from vehicle lights is now imo a realy probelm on the roads in winter.
It's ok on the motorway buy in the city the close distances with HID and LED make it ever more hard to see anthing without a bright light on it.

If your reflectors/lenses are not in pristine A1 condition, you'll lose as much as 50% of your light output there alone. Fit some good ones or switch to a lucas-style fitting and swap yours for modern ones (read my last post on page 1 of my thread on euro car parts headlight fitting - https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... t#p8021829" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) - in particular the landrover units, fit relays, nightbreaker bulbs and you'll be able to spot a fieldmouse a mile away. Trust me, you do not need HID...

I am now in the process of selling my daily driver, due to being low to the ground, as it has become dangerous to drive thanks to the people who insist on having blinding headlights , personally I prefer it if the driver coming towards me have not got their eyes closed so I dont quite get it, halogen bulbs are ok anyway in my opinion at least they stop when not working and not slowly fade away like leds
