Hi, got a Cobra alarm fitted to my van. 89 Holdsworth DG1.9. Can anyone tell me where it connects to the ignition system as it's developed a fault and is stopping the power to the starter.
Thanks

People tend not to like talking about ways to disable alarm systems on the open forum.
But to be honest if the alarm was fitted by a previous owner then the implementation could be almost anything.
I'd just start by tracing the wiring either from the alarm module and see where it goes or perhaps start at the ignition and trace wires from there until you find where the alarm relay has been spliced in.

Hi, I have a Cobra alarm/immobiliser fitted to my TR6 and all of the wires connecting the control unit are black to foil would-be thieves. The only way to suss out what is going on is to trace each wire and work out what it is connected to.
Generally all immobiliser/alarms have the following connections:
Battery (permanent power),
Ground/Earth,
Ignition,
Door switch (triggers alarm),
Alarm siren,
Immobilisation circuits (could be starter/Ignition/fuel pump or others).
Probably the best way round this would be to rip it out and start again - I found good alarm immobiliser from Ebay for about £30
