temp gauge

I have had quite a few overheating problems over the last couple of years and wrecked a couple of engine's. A very long story so I won't go there. I am now running my latest 1-9 AAZ td. Because of my previous problems I have become a little paranoid about the coolant temperature so I have just ordered a digital temp gauge. Where is the best position to fit the gauge? Is there somewhere I can screw the sensor in or do I have to go down the route of cutting a pipe and adding it there. Which pipe is best?
Thanx in advance

well it depends on what temp you want to know
Coolant from the Cylinder head
return coolant from the rad
mixed coolant from the thermostat going to the head.
The late T25 petrol takes a coolant temp reading in the thermostat, so as the temperature rises you can see this, then when the thermostat opens, you see the temp drop and then you can monitor how the thermostat and radiator & radiator fan combine to keep the temp reasonably even.

Still not sure what I want. The standard gauge on there now comes from a sensor on the cylinder block. I have used the same sensor connection so I can see what normal is on the dash gauge . As most people have put on hear in the past, normal is when the left side of the pointer sits more or less on the right side of the centre red light. That on my gauge shows 110 °c ! Is that a normal reading bearing in mind that calibration maybe different than the sensor it came with? That is driving stop start in traffic at 7:00 in the morning! Other methods of fitting would mean cutting the hose and fitting a gauge adaptor which I am not sure I fancy!
