Subaru ej20 conversion - immobiliser

I'm finally getting around to installing my ej20 into my van, it's been delivered and all of the loom has been converted ready to go into my van, I've got my head around how most things should work and go together but I can't find much information on what people have done with the subaru ignition barrel/immobiliser?
I've looked on rjes website and worked out that I have the Mitsubishi immobiliser ecu with the black plastic antenna, but what should I do with it?
Any ideas/experiences would be much appreciated, good or bad as I've never done this before.

Interesting question, I had the same thought.... hopefully someone who has already done the conversion will let us into what they did ... I was thinking that perhaps you could just tape the original subaru key to the antenna and leave it permanently attached ( this is what I once did with a Fiat Punto that had a different key for the ignition lock than the one programmed for the ECU ) although it would be better to be able utilise the extra security from the key immobiliser .

I think I'm going to do exactly that pionte, at least until I get a spare key coded and the van running right! Then I might have a go at moving the Subaru transponder into a vw flip key, putting the correct key blade onto it (which I have found but seems to only
Be available in America :/ ) and then extending part of the harness and mounting the antenna on the vw ignition barrel?
I haven't heard of anyone doing this but I can't see why it shouldn't work, but I've never done it so I'm not sure and don't really want to "cock" my immobiliser up :/

Anyone got any ideas or done anything similar?

My immobiliser is plugged into the RJES loom, and one of the transponder chips is taped to the ring that would originally have surrounded the Subaru ignition switch, now located in the engine bay, ( I have a spare chip)
The immobiliser is active until I turn the VW ignition on, then deactivates as shown on the diagnostic led's.
Hope this helps,
Mark.

What I've done in the past is
Mounted the ecu and associated parts in a plastic electric box under the bed,
mounted original subaru ignition barrel along with the transponder antenna inside the box with the subaru key in the barrel,
it's in the correct position and received the signal everytime,
It could be mounted on the outside of the box and then the key could be removed to act as an immobilizer.....

There's a couple of pics of how I did mine in my build-thread:

The engine can be started/stopped on the rear key, which can be removed for security.

Andy ,thanks for posting. That wiring looks amazing ! you did a great job

hows it been since you fitted the engine ? anything that you would do different if you did it again ?

Cheers, yes I quite enjoy doing wiring. I've done all sorts, various EJ's, TDI's, a GTI and a 1.8T.
The only thing I would do different with the EJ install would be to do the headgaskets before fitting. I did have issues with the Smallcar header I purchased down to their poor QC, in the end I had to buy/import another one from them (later version) which fingers crossed is much stronger.
