Need some advice on remapping my subaru EJ25 n/a, runs fine and should probably leave it alone but just can't help tinkering. I know remapping a n/a is not gonna get the same results as a turbo but would like to improve the fuel consumption and slightly improve the horsepower. Does anyone knows what improvements I'm likely to get in terms of bhp?
Also as its a engine conversion does anyone know who maybe able to take on this work, I dont want to get weird looks takin it somewhere who doesn't apprecaite the VW take on subaru power.

afaik no one does mapping for Subaru that improves mpg, and you can't have much more power than originally supplied with either, on a TDi there maybe some apparant fuel savings but no one will promise you a gteed 3mpg more, the original engine was supplied as clean and lean as the manufacturuer could make it whilst still driving well so unless you can find someone who can rolling road and properly map the engine in the van with the transmission it now has you won't see any improvements - Awesome GTi in Latchford were prepared to rolling road a syncro so you could start with asking them what they could do but I don't expect they will have the scooby knowledge as they VW based

not much if any gain in mapping any NA engine.. There maybe some benefits in a fully rolling road mapped job, but its gonna cost a bit to achieve that..

An aftermarket ecu to get rid of the over-rich warm-up cycle (to protect the oem catalyst) would be the only way to do a remap i.e. from scratch.
You will spend about a grand by the time you have bought an MS3 kit and paid a whizzkid and the rolling road time.
You'll have to drive a long way to rake in 1k in saved petrol.

Dam doesn't seem to be worth doing at all, shame as I'm always trying to make things a little better. Not that I'm unhappy with the performance cause it goes extremely well and makes me smile when I'm foot to the floor. Thanks for all the comments and saving me a lot of wasted dosh
