Hi all , my 2.1 has finally given up on me with about 300,000 km on the clock and my mate has got a 1.9 dg engine out of a 4 speed box van , how much work would be involved in putting this into my van ? Would it be a straight swop or would i have to change the clutch and box and wiring loom etc ? All or any replies would be much appreciated .. thanks in advance jimbo

The basic engine "block" is the same..
If you swap the fuel injection etc and other ancillaries over, then it will work.. you don't need to change wiring loom etc at all.. but you are gonna notice a drop in power..
Clutch.. see whats on the 1.9... most 1.9 have the same size, early ones don't always tho...

I would swap the injection over rather than converting the bus to the 1.9 carb.
If it's an early 1.9 then the 2.1 plenum mounting will need some slight tweaking as the top of the case is different where this bolts on to, but simple stuff to get round.
The 2.1 has the oil heat exchanger, but the 1.9 won't, so depending on whether the 1.9 is early or late and if it has the cooling system on then there will be some degree of swapping of parts required.
Why not get your 2.1 rebuilt / buy a rebuilt one? Otherwise there is a substantial power drop from the. 2.1 DJ (112hp vs. 80hp)
