Hi everyone.
We have a much molested T25 2l Aircooled,last owner had a Facett fuel pump square type fitted r/h side of tinware,put in .
My question would it be better being in the samame plane as the fuel tank outlet so the pump has to try and prime itself,before the carbs?. .
Also anyone know who stocks a allen socket or spanner type,oil preasure relife valve as my original slot type has been well chewed in its life,.

Facets should be near the tank rather than in the engine bay.

And for safety sake run through a relay with the oil sender as switched earth or the charge light (blue wire) as a positive trigger, then if you stall or heaven forbid have a fire your pump won't carry on if the engine stalls and feed it.

Thanks for all responses, liked the idea of pump near tank,and the relay,I must have read that tip on this forum,but could not think where!.
Just to give a feel of what this poor van has bastardised into. The battery leads are RED Negative and you know what colour is the positive ,JUST ANOTHERthing thats getting changed, so far we have counted 45 small chock blok conectors going to various places,not going to talk about 230/240volt side but my father in law and myself are both 16th edition so it will be up to date regarding any changes in 17th and motor homes.
I dont know the mind set of some folk.

Many of the small facet pumps only draw 2 amps so don't actually require a relay (the relay being a way to reduce load on whatever trigger method is adopted). I energise my pump via the blue trigger wire on alternator and it works well like that although clearly if ignition light doesn't go out or alternator packs up, pump won't operate. I wouldn't want to drive anywhere with a faulty alternator so perhaps no harm done there. However, I do recommend an overide switch for pump using a push-to-make switch so you can prime the line if it did ever run dry. Its a useful mod if you ever run out of petrol and need to get fuel down the line quickly.

There is more than one way to activate pump but certainly it shouldn't be able to keep running if engine stops. Also, it pays to mount the pump via rubber washers to keep down the noise. Mine is louder than the engine when idling:)

You can run a second supply to the pump from the starter circuit so it pumps while cranking, with judicious use of relays to keep voltages where they belong
