Figure of 8 or pole and clamp?

Hello. We're new to the site. We've been lurking for a few months cause every question we've had so far has already been asked so we've just read previous threads. I'm sure this must have come up too, but we can't find it.
We've just bought a Movelite Pro Carbon awning cause we're off to the New Forest for half term and are planning on it being wet! But we're not sure what type of fixing is best - figure of 8 or pole and clamp? The pole is more expensive, but looks like it might fit more securely. And does a figure of 8 tend to let the rain in? Just wondered what everyone's experience was.
Oh and we've got an Autosleeper with a pop up. He's called Digby and he's great!

I have used both and prefer the pole and clamp.......I just found the figure 8 annoying to set up, although it worked well without any leaks.
If you go for pole and clamp, make sure you get the clamps with the rubber on the inside or the metal will scratch the gutters.

Another vote for 'pole and clamp'.
Much better than the figure of eight system, mine was a pain to fit, came off in places and most annoying of all squeaked in the wind.

Pole and clamp. Stood up to strong Atlantic winds. No problems with leaks etc.

How does the pole and clamp work? Does the pole thread into the awning?
Thanks

The pole treads though a sleeve on the awning, there are gaps so you can attach 4-5 clamps along its length.

I don't think our awning has that pocket for the pole to thread through

looks like the figure of 8 is my only option.
Cheers

Pole and clamps - without a doubt. The rubbers can perish after a time but easily replaced. I managed to buy a huge rubber mat at 80/90 Steampunk (enough to do whole area over engine bay, plus enough left over to cut up for new rubbers for my clamps as well as another project I was working on - for a bargain £15. I guess you could cut up pound shop hot water bottles if it came to it. Once on, those clamps are going nowhere.
