Hi. Has anybody fitted a Fuel Cat to the fuel system. There are two types, one is dropped into the fuel tank the other is an inline unit. It evidently improves fuel efficiency. Advert claims "FUEL CAT removes and further prevents the build up of carbons, gums and waxes. Internally, your engine will be far cleaner and more efficient."

Their scientific basis is shakey to say the least. My first car had one and I had experimented on the rolling road, and on an Opel Manta 1.9SR (don't laugh) it actually gained 4bhp removing the fuel cat

It's a twenty five year old van.. it drinks petrol.
Ain't no cat gonna change that.

I remember a spate of devices that came out in the 80's when I was doing my apprenticeship, the main F.ord dealer even sold one... it went inline with your fuel lines and was supposed to ' align ' the molecules in the petrol allowing them to burn more efficiently... Setting the plug gaps correctly made much more of a difference ! I dont remember fitting many ( any )...

I bet if Jupiter aligned with Mars the effect would be even more efficient.

Any genuine performance benefit is only due to the weight reduction in your wallet.

I dunno... the fur balls from the Cat may block the fuel line making it break down....pushing a T25 makes it very frugal on fuel...

Cats don't like petrol, they can't resist antifreeze even though it's not good for them !
