Anything else whilst replacing steering rack?

After advisory from mot about play in the steering rack and looking at the condition of my rod end boots etc, I decided to go ahead and buy a complete set from brickwerks.

So I'm ready to swap it over, but then read about the poly bushes and thought it would probably be a good idea to fit them at same time.

Question is, is there anything else you'd recommend changing too whilst I'm at it? :ok

Cheers

Paul

Steering rack mounting bushes and mounting bolts, tie rods and ends, steering rack boots, upper ball joints. May as well do the lot and then any seized bolts etc can be cut off and not fretted over!

I also cleaned up all the chassis rails and boxes while the area was clean and then used vactan on all the seals and painted underbody sealant over the whole area. Very messy work, but good peice of mind: my MOT man complimented me on the thorough job!

Thanks for that. I've already got all the bits you mentioned, so looks like just a clean up and protect :ok

While you're underneath it would be a good idea to do a visual inspection of all the other bushes at the front end to see what condition they're in.

Also worth emptying a can of spray grease into the gear leaver box, which is located above the spare wheel! makes hell of a difference..
