Hi there, I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. Also new to VW ownership with a t25 I bought several weeks ago. It's a 1986 tin top that has had rear windows fitted previously.

Anyway, the reason for my post, today I installed a rev counter and came across a few things under the dash which has got me puzzled.

The photo below illustrates what I encountered, a switch which turns the dash light on/off and what i think is a cut in the PCB from light over speedo, no other lights on dash.

i can only think that for some reason the switch has been added to turn dash light on/off for some reason.

Basically......help? how can i fix this?

I also found some other wires cut which i think goto the fan/blower which also doesnt work.....

anybody able to help at all? is it possible to repair the PCB? why would light be bypassed like that?

I wonder if all the lights on the dash cluster failed and the previous owner just 'hotwired' the light for the speedo (as I assume that you don't have a rev counter in the dash itself?) - I'd assume that they did this out of the laziness of just saying that the only thing that you 'really need' to see if the speedo ........

There probably is no way to fix the plastic PCB (as you say it has been cut!) but you could try following the example in this thread which would allow you to get all three lights working in the cluster ...

Thanks for the suggestion, looking into the solution you mention. Also considering soldering PCB, seen a few tutorials. Time to get the multi meter out.
