1989 T25. Gearbox issues. Audi TDi 1900cc engine

Can anyone help?
It's becoming increasingly difficult to engage 1st and reverse gear on my 5 speed box. Once in, the gearbox is sound --- no grinding or crunching and plenty of oomph.
It feels like a bush or maybe a linkage has too much play.
Can anyone recommend a specialist within striking distance of Salisbury who'll be able to help out?
