OK well before you do that have you given it a good half hour run and then are they still noisy?
Have they been adjusted...although they are supposed to be self adjusting this can be done.
Basic adjustment is outlined in the haynes manual
I'll find the relevent post

USe only a 15w40 or 15w 50 or 20w50...
SHort runs will make them noisy.. as The rev says, take it for a good run.. 30 mins..
Adjustment can be made by.. Backing adjuster right off (when rocker not actuating valve) and 1/2 to 1 turn in from just touching.. the 2 turns as per Bently and Haynes is too much i several peoples opinion (1/2 turn is how I run mine)

you can do it with the heads on but you'll need to buy new pushrod tubes
its on the wiki

But you wont get the pushrod tubes back in witht he heads on... and colapsible ones are bloomin expensive..
a run and thicker oil is cheaper and easier to do....
a start, run for 5 mins move and stop always makes both of mine rattle..
Take it up the road for an hour if it has only done 10 minute runs...

...it might be worth just checking that the studs that hold the rockers in place haven't stripped!
I know a man who though he had a noisy tappet but actually his whole rocker assembly was hanging loose at one end...

Good point Dan
Worth checking nothing amiss in there with the rockers and shaft retainers..
