chassis welding

evening all,
i'm looking a welding up a couple of small holes in my chassis rails this weekend but want to order some sheet metal. whats the best thickness to carry out chassis repairs?

if its just small holes,id use 2mm steel,

they just small holes but need to investigate further. if i need to cut the rot out what do you recon thickness should be

Hi I'd still use 2mm and fully weld it.if you lived local to me I could of got you some .

Not sure what factory thickness is on a 25 but my prototype (T2 that is) was 3mm and that's what I used. More hole than chassis though on the bits I did. HTH, Bri

if you have more rot than chassis then would use 3 mm,but for small repairs 2mm is pretty substantial,plus easier to shape than 3mm if your having to cut it with a grinder.
