AFN 1.9Tdi injectors

Hi all,

Looking to change my injectors as a rule out for a (white) smokey engine on startup...

Anyone know what the part numbers are for the 1.9 TDi (110bhp) AFN injectors are?

Also are the 1.9Tdi injectors from a ALH (90 bhp Seat Ibiza) these same, I suspect not but its worth a shot maybe just to fit them to see what happens?

Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy, AFN injectors are 028130201T, they're also used in other VE pump 110bhp engines including AVG and AHF. White smoke is sometime a timing issue (retarded), might be worth getting VCDS on it to check.

you could send your 90hp injectors off for new nozzles. i got dark side developments to do mine, i went from 0.205 to 0.216.

Are you sure its fuel and oil.

WHS about timing but also...

Also are your glow plugs controlled by the ecu. After the light on the dash goes off the glows continue to heat for some time after which is supposed to keep, cold running smoother and not smokey. Check your glows work, it will start fine with out them but not as well.

Hi All,

Many thanks for your replies.

Before I posted this query I have already done a fair bit to this engine to try to find the fault, so to summarise whats happened so far:

engine is a 1,9TDi 1Z bloc with AFN head and injectors, with a 1Z (I think) manual fuel pump.

The symptoms of the fault are as follows:
following being started it runs great with no smoke then after about 5-10 seconds it runs lumpy and chuffs out a considerable amount of white smoke, it will then clear and then randomly run rough and chuff out white smoke on tick over. When driven it will smoke under load until the engine has warmed up...when its warm its ok...
it starts on the button (best starting diesel i've ever come across), even with the glow plug relay pulled out it still starts the same. The engine used to run ok, though did put out a little bit of white smoke on startup, its just got a lot lot worse.Pulls great with loads of power, no water loss or oil in water, uses a little oil though. sounds ok with no unusual knocks etc, when driven along its a nice sweet engine....

Whats been done so far (following various bits of duff info...)

1:Glow plugs & Relay
fitted new glow plugs and glow plug relay, all tested and working ok - made no difference
2: OIl / Oil filter and Fuel filter
Yep changem then for top branded stuff...no difference
3: Additives
Tried them all.....no difference
4: Air in fuel:
Replaced with new clear pipes no bubbles, no difference
5: Injectors
Had then removed, cleaned and tested...no difference, but I'm still suspicious these may be the culprits (hence the request)
6: Compression test OK, timing checked OK
7: Turbo
I know, I know..I'm getting desperate...no difference
8: Next suggestion is valve guides sticking / guide seals....getting a replacement head at Busfest (looking for some AFN injectors though).

anyone got any ideas, or have a few mins at Busfest to take a look I'll be very grateful... :ok

Thanks in advance
Andy

I did loads on mine to get rid of white smoke (ended up being bent rod) here is a copied and pasted bit from my build thread on a part on the injection pump. Symptoms are rough idle and white smoke for this part..........
Also removed the pump case pressure regulator, as this can cause poor running at low revs if it has come apart
This is it removed

As you can see it has started to come apart (bit sticking out the end)

Pushed it back together with some grips

Refitted, you can see it here on the pump

It definitely made a difference to the low rev range, not night and day but a slight smoothing...
Did bugger all with the misfire/smoke issue though.
