Could be but when mine went on my old van the cab filled with smoke. I take it that your water is ok and the rad's getting hot?

It's seized
well the bearings have.
Quite common these days.
If you get the dash off it might be freeable.. but once exposed you might aswell replace it

there's a "how to" guide in the wiki

Deffo what Kev says. It's not that much of a nightmare if you take your time. Shear bolts on steering column can be a bit tricky and splitting the heater assembly needs a bit of a delicate touch (IMHO). Go steady and methodical and it's really not that much of a problem. Dont bother with the lube repair of the bearing - new motors are widely available and not that expensive. Best of luck.

Sound right Kev, I should have read the post properly I thought there was no heat rather than it had conked out completely. When mine went I lived with it and put on another coat. If the dash is coming out anyway is there anything else prone to failure that's woth doing at the same time?

My fan doesn't work either. Even if I don't switch it on my fuse goes at intervals leaving me with no wipers which could be dodgy on a dark wet night. Keep a stock of fuses on dashboard. Will fix it - one day.

Pre-85 ceramic fuses by any chance?
