Pop Top Swop - Autohomes Kamper -> Devon Moonraker

I think I have just acquired a Devon Moonraker Poptop.

Tha plan is to replace what is left of my Autohomes Kamper roof with the Devon roof.

Can anyone see any flaws in this plan? Are there any issues with the original Autohomes conversion that would stop the Devon roof fitting?

Are there any issues with the devon roof that would be good to resolve and/or reinforce while I am fitting it?

Cheers
Mark

FWIW I recently fitted a Westy pop top onto my tintop and worked myself into a right panic reading up on it beforehand...in the end was relatively straightforward and I'm pleased wit the result. And of course that included the fairly nerve-wracking cutting a bl00dy big hole in the roof! Not directly relevant experience of course but hopefully reassuring. I do sometimes have my van in West Susses (I live in Lincoln but work in Burgess Hill), you're welcome to have a look at it if it helps in any way.

Mark,
Have a look at my recent post on problems with a Devon due to the strength of the gas struts holding the roof up. Have a look at the lower strut mounting points to check for cracks. I am about to take my lower roof off to fix the problem.
Hope that helps

Pete,

I was reading that, just before I put this up, thinking I would need to check the strut mounts. I am a way off doing the swap on mine, so if you get a chance some pictures would be really helpful.

I am slightly dreading removing the autohomes lower roof, as I am not sure what I am going to find under there!

Cheers
Mark
