Hi guys, Ok so ill go to the beginning and im really sorry about the lack of proper terminology.
I was stuck in traffic on the m56 when i broke down (middle lane, of course) im not sure if bertie died or if i stalled, (although im 99% sure it was bertie). when i looked in the engine (well you never know there might have been a great big green luminous arrow flashing saying here is the problem) one of the leads had been fried, i didnt know where it had come from so i just called the recovery truck and he brought me home.
anyhoo, i called the mobile mechanic and he said it was the coil that was the culprit & i needed to replace it, which has been done along with the fried leads, there was other attachments from/to/on the coil which had also fried so he has stripped those and put new connector things on it but bertie still didnt want to start so the mechanic said to replace the ignition module, which has also been done, again bertie did not want to start.
The mobile man is a very busy man & has done these jobs over the past 2 weeks and i need my bertie back so i called the AA out (i was sensible and joined after he broke down  ) and the AA man said its the rotor arm, soooo, ive been and got one of those this morning, put that on and guess what??? bertie still wont play nice and now the flashy temperature light wont go out, his battery i dead and he wont start from a jump  .
I am just wondering if anyone else had had this problem, and what was the overall cost of getting it fixed and if anyone had any idea why this might have happened in the first place because my way of thinking is that all these bits can be replaced but if the initial cause is still there then it could happen to me again.
Thanks Tracy.

Could be the haul sender in the distributor, i think they are around £60 for a new one. You may need to change need all of your ingnition system, ignition mod, coil,ht leads, rotor arm, distributor cap, haul sender, spark plugs.Your mechanic has already changed some of these so i would change the others one at time and see if that works.

I think I'd check to see if I was getting a spark first. :D

Well, my guy came back this morning scratched his head a little (and other parts of his anatomy) and after cleaning up every earth wire he could find because sometimes there was a good spark and others it wasn't too good, we had lift off.Bertie lived......we'll for a short while anyway, he turned him off but Bertie didn't want to start again so he has taken the distributor off to do, well, whatever it is that you do to them, so fingers crossed. :D
