Well what can I say it was all going so well, the near side disc ,caliper, caliper carrier, wheel bearings etc all done without to much problem (bar the speedo cable aggravation) so the offside should be a breeze, I mean what could go wrong I'm a old hand at this now. How can one side of vehicle be more corroded than the other, I think I can guess the answer to this, it is probably something to do with the position on the road, where parked etc.

Anway it must have taken a good hour plus just to get the caliper free of the flexi hose at the caliper and in the end I cut it and clamped it off. So I'll replace the the hose anyway it won't be problem and it will be damn sight easier to release it now at the brake pipe end, wrong, as soon as I put the spanner on the the 11mm nut the pipe split and brake fluid went everywhere. Now back in the 70's when i first started tampering with cars you could whip the pipe off take to a local motor factors (freds spares, Latchmere Road, Battersea, open 7 days week 7am - 7pm) and they would knock you up a replacement in no time, do this sort of places still exsist ? Now I have to scour the web looking for the part.

And just to top the day off in last picture the bottom left screw that was on the rusted to dust splash guard broke off leaving the screw in the thread hole with nothing left to get hold off. How do you get the screw out ? The fun continues. The only saving grace is it's not my daily drive TFFT !!! :rofl :rofl :rofl

Big herb,

Amazing I didn't think anyone would know them, I used to get my car MOT'd around the back of that shop in the arches 'Curlings '. A long way to go for brake pipe now though. I suppose I could buy the kit and have a go myself. :D
