Engine code + Service

HI

Picked up my first T25 earlier in the week, and subsequently spent my first evening under it with a snapped exhaust pipe :)

Anyway whilst i was under there i noticed the oil filter looked like it was off the ark (despite having a receipted service less than a year ago). So i plan to give it a full service for piece of mind if nothing else. However I do not know which engine i actually have?

I think i have narrowed it down to DH or GW code.

Its a 1.9 1985 with injection.

Is there anywhere it is stamped to i can ensure i buy the right service items. (also any recommendations for places to buy items..i usually just go to GSF and get Mann, bosch, beru stuff)

Thanks

Not so common in this country, a 1.9 injection, no problem though. Look at the base of the black plastic breather tower, to the left of the alternator. At the base of that tower, on the metal bit it bolts to, is the engine code and number.

As long as you stick to "proper" brands, like you list, it doesn't matter where they come from, but don't dismiss the VW main dealers, they can be as cheap as some motor factors on some items. There is a ton of info on engines and servicing etc in our "wiki", link here = https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Main_Page" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (normally accessed by the "wiki" link at the top left of every page on here.

Thanks for the help, ill look when i get home.

Its a German import which may explain the injection.

After removing about an inch of grime, it's a DH code
