Random Earth lead?

Hello all. Advice please, I have refitted my rebuilt engine today and have all the correct bits and even remembered where they went, amazing! The only trouble is i have a large earth lead with round connector hanging around the area of the solenoid for the starter motor. Can anyone advise where this goes please. I know you could do with pic but not near van now sorry. The solenoid has a double positive lead attached already and a further small spade type wire fitment. It doesn't seem as though it is missing from the starter. This lead isn't the main earth strap that's connected to the gear box mount.
Grateful for all help.

Thanks for reply, thinking about it it may lead from the front to rear, poss from main battery? If so where should that live?

Are you sure it is not the main battery lead?
The starter should have connected to the solenoid the black main battery lead with a ring terminal, two red leads from the alternator with a ring terminal and the red/black wire from the ignition switch with a push on terminal.

Check it with a meter to see what it's connected to?

Thanks loads guys. Big herb that's gotta be it then, I'm sorry to be a dullard just one that I couldn't remember. I shall stick it on the other terminal on the starter solenoid. I did go for that one initially but the wear marks just didn't look right so I had my doubts. Thanks again guys! Quality response. Any ideas re mechanical fuel pumps? Another problem holding me back from getting show on the road.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL !!
If you get that wrong you can have a huge exploding battery fire with hot sulphuric acid flying about. Folk have been blinded, scarred in the face etc from accidents like this.
PLEASE BE CAREFUL !!

And note thread on facet fuel pump. Just my opinion but I'd says its superior to mechanical pump and generally cheaper. Mine not only starts and runs perfectly now, it runs a whole lot better when you put pedal to the floor as it has no probs keeping up.

Thanks cookie I may go that way. I need to do it today so will try and source one. The other option was to try and tap the bore and fit a threaded hose coupler? Ref the wiring I will be careful confirm the big black battery lead and two large red ring terminal cables all go on the same terminal? Thanks all.
