hi all,

changing my timing belt in my 1y. set to tdc, set the semi-auto tension ok, tighened up the cam and tensioner nut/bolt. all ok, come to rotate the crank through 2 turns, then i hit the problem.

TDC is screwed. way out.! if i put the crank on the tdc mark the cam is not close to lining up. i have to rotate the crank another 3 or 5 teeth before the cam lines up, obviously by then TDC on the flywheel is gone!

HELP! anyone got any ideas??, 6 hours later, had the belt on of lots! im no where further along.

thanks mushly

just a thought,if its got a car flywheel not a van flywheel i think the timing marks are different due to the location of the hole in the bell housing,i had this prob with one about a year ago,but lucily i marked the pulleys amd just fitted the belt as it was.

you shouyld have1.6 D or TD flywheel and clutch, yes? if so your TDC mark at the gear box window should be right, are you locking the cam with a plate at the rear? ,if not and your using the dot marks on the cam pully not trust them some cam pullies have several marks on for different vehicles and application, use the locking plate in cam and locking pin in the pump check and double check TDC at gear box window and as you correctly did ,turn it twice by hand and check timing marks again,
hope this helps

Suzuki 970s (rascal / carry) had two sets of marks on the cam and the crank pully
Bet you will all sleep better with that piece of usless info
