I recently had some work done and the mechanic doing the job said he noticed the accelerator cable was down to 3 threads....I'm now well panicked and daredn't drive too far, but have a long trip to make on monday so have hurridley ordered a new cable, to arrive tomorrow. Thing is, this guy doesnt work tomorrow so I have to attempt the feat meself....not being the best mechanic in the world I'm quaking in me boots and dont know where to start. It sounds straightforward enough, but my usually reliable Haynes book has no info on changing it....Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! 1983 1.9 Watercooled......Happy Chugging

no worries it is easy anough .soon as you see your new cable it will all fall into place just that the grub screw that holds the cable at the pedal end is alittle fiddly (grease the cable up too ) not a big job you will enjoy it!!
