Right, my Westy has the original gas tank underneath and needs filling up. I know it's sound as when I bought it there was gas in it and it didn't leak so I want to fill it up again. However, my van was originally from Germany so I believe they use a different connector. With the van came 2 adapters which I believe convert it back to a UK connector (sorry no pics but can get one later if needed).
I've never filled up a gas tank before, but I know how you put the UK nozzles on (both types) due to googling etc, but I was wondering what I did with the adapters. Would I just push on and twist by hand first, and then attach the nozzle, or do you attach the adapters to the nozzle and then the lot to the tank? Also, I'm going to France on Saturday, so would that mean I could fill up without any adapters?

its not daft when I first came cross the UK trigger type I could not make it latch as I was moving the latch the wrong way, even the forecourt assistant didn't know how

Brilliant...thanks mate. I'll fill up over here then before leaving. Looking on the gasure page, my adapter looks like the second one, but mines split into 2. I'll have a go tonight

Right. .....tried and failed. Put the adapter on, attached the hose and it wouldn't deliver gas. Even the attendant came out and he couldn't figure it out either. The thing was working fine and it was pressurised cause when I disconnect it, it spurted the gas out so pressure and sealing wasn't an issue. Basically for some reason my tank wouldn't allow any gas in. And it's defo empty. If I rock the van, I can hear something hitting the inside of the tank, probably the level sender. Any ideas why it won't let me fill it up?

You have to fit it to the tank and press the delivery trigger in relatively quick succession otherwise it won't work. Took a third attendant to finally work it out for us.

^^^ whs you have to be quick getting the nozzle from the holster and on then hit the go press button or it times out.
not sure if it times out whether you still get a little gas escaping or not but worth a try

Possibilities:

Timed out.......DON'T remove the nozzle from its holster until the final second, then put on, twist the bayonet sleeve to lock, then pull and lock the trigger as quickly as you can (usually up to about 30 seconds and then you need to re-set by replacing the trigger on the machine)

Leak.....the two adapters you have are identical, the only reason you have two is to extend their reach...two increases the possibility of a leak. The delivery mechanism is 'leak sensitive' and so won't activate unless 'gas tight'.

Your tank is already full and the internal float/magnetically operated mechanism are not moving due to fuel ingress into the float (very common issue) Basically the float just sinks in the LPG instead of floating on it.
