As the odometer on my petrol 1.9dg gets ever closer to 180,000 (km) I started to wonder just how long these engines can go on for? So whats the mileage on your engine, dg or otherwise, and who gets the prize for the 'oldest'?

250k+ km on a DJ - still smooth, powerful and quiet. But I don't expect that to be anywhere near highest...

181000 miles on an MV. 175000 on dusty Californian roads/tracks.

Quiet too. I remember when you started it up at high beech I didn't realise it was running!

funnily enough today it had a noisy tappet,has not done that before unless stood for a while,it quietened up after ten minutes,speaking of High Beech maybe we should have another meet sometime

1983 1.9 df with 145,000 miles no oil use but tappets rattle a bit.

Well the bus itself has done 161000, if it's been around the clock just the once

How many miles of that covered with its Aircooled CT is anyone's guess

Absolutely no idea. Milometer stuck.

It'll last until its had enough.

221.000 miles on one....90.000 on another....but I think that had clocked at least once....
