High Top, upper bed base *What wood?*

Hi guys,

Cheeky V is coming together nicely now and after all the work I've done on the body (and after taking all of the insides to the tip) I decided to give her a completely new interior but I'm stuck as to what wood I should use for the base of the bed in the roof (the bit that gets covered in the middle where you normally stand up)

Any ideas welcome :ok

I'm using 12mm Ply for the majority of the it but this flex's to much and will probably just fall straight through

Cheers
Cheeky V

Marine ply is a good option, being workable and good strength to weight in all directions.

I would agree that 12mm is a bit flexy, so go thicker. MDF and others are usually more flexible than ply, but could be cheaper if you don't mind going thicker. You could thicken the front 'free' edge with a bead of timber to stiffen that part.
