hello there

just wondering if anybody can recommend a decent level indicator for camping gas cylinders used on hobs in the T25 vans? I've seen the really cheap ones on amazon for about £3, but are they any good? I suppose I could simply judge how heavy the cylinder is when full and gauge it from there, but looking for something a bit more scientific.

The 'GASLO' gauges are good but not cheap, I have Calor blue in my van, but may switch to propane later to extend our kettle boiling into January, I'm not sure if they do one for Camping gaz.

I weigh mine with a small spring balance, need to weigh it full when you get it, ideally but i have the weight of a 901 written down in the van if you need it, it contains 2.75kg of gas

I thought those gauges only told you when the bottle had, or was about to, run out of gas. Surely they can only rely on a drop in pressure at the end of the bottles life. I stand to be corrected & would be interested to know if they work differently to that.

One other advantage with a Gaslo is that it is easy to check for leaks, turn gas on, turn gas off and then watch to see if the gauge drops, even the fridge pilot light when turned on drops the gauge imediately

If you have the room just carry 2 bottles, I've even fitted 'quick relaese' connectors on the pipe so it's literally seconds to do a swapover.

You obviously need 2 regulators but they're not expensive.

The local tip is a good place to 'blag' an empty bottle from as well.
