Hi
Can anyone advise me on how I upgrade from a JX clutch to a stronger clutch as this one only lasted 1700 miles? what are my options? Can I fit a 228mm clutch onto jx flywheel? Of a petrol T25? Or can I fit a passat clutch? If so which one?

Thanks

No but cannot understand problems with JX clutch.
Syncro... abused... drag peeps out of ditches...pull away in 2nd all
the time... slip it to get revs a ove prop rattle speed eyc

only change any clutch components when I have gbox out
not because it slips. Can slip and smell but 5 mins later is fine again

?!

just my take...

It was the pressure plate that broke. Not worn clutch plate for your information. Another point East Anglia is flat, unlike the City of severn hills near where I am.

The paucity of information leads us to make stab in the dark suggestions.Image
Your comments make no sense - so what if East Anglia is flat? (It is not) What has that got to do with your left foot position?
Nice way of asking for help!
None from me henceforth.

Reason for reply:

1700 miles ridiculous life under any normal conditions...

Browse the Tech Archive and you will find quite a bit on upgraded clutches.
Also old Syncro forum now in Tech Archive.
Try search on Author:Andy Simpson... Keyword: clutch or AAZ. Also SyncroDoug maybe Simon Baxter.

PS. Syncro with AAZ so that climbs steep hilly meadows with enormous drag without slip. Ditto towing Defenders out.
If slips and smells recovers quickly.
What make of clutch was it???
Korean cowdung friction plate?

If pressure plate broke then that's not an indication that clutch is too weak... more likely a manufacturing or installation defect.
