Water pump noise ?

What sort of noise Should the pump make when you turn the tap ?
Silent
Purr
Or quiet thump thump thump which speeds up the more you turn tap (which you guessed it ... Mine does )

That depends on the pump you have.
some are diaphragm pumps some are chambered pumps

It's a sureflo model 200 , could it be air in it as I've just filled tank as guy I bought it off said he never used it ?

What is the number on the pump?
is it 94-236-08
looks like a chamber pump which does thump
Air won't make it noisy, if anything it'll make it quieter.
If it's not pumping then you need to try sucking on the outlet (tap) until a flow is established.
Or the pump needs cleaning out.
removal of the head is easy.
then just clean the pump components.
Newer pumps are cheap and your is easily replaced with a diaphragm demand pump
