Pierburg 2e idle speed adjustment

The idle speed on my van has always been a bit high, finally got round to measuring it today and it's about 1200rpm. Starts and runs well otherwise, and most of the time causes me no issues but in the inevitable summer holiday motorway traffic jams on a hot day I do get a bit concerned. When it starts from cold the revs are slightly higher, then after a bit drop when the throttle is "blipped" so all appears pretty normal there.

I'm pretty sure its not a leaky air hose as I checked and replaced anything looking a bit iffy a few months ago with no effect.

I couldn't see any idle speed adjust on the carb, is there one? Or is it just idle mixture screw and no idle speed adjust?

Any ideas? Or should I stop worrying about it, after all, it runs!

If its the same carb as mine, the fast idle screw sticks out the carb right in the middle as you look at it. It has a white plastic sleeve round it.

Thats probably the screw to adjust,

Without wantling to split hairs thats not really the fast idle screw thats the throttle stop, it just adjusts the point the throttle rests in, so in its screwed in too far its like having your foot sliggtly on the pedal.
fast idle cam adjustment screw is round the back and adjusts the choke fast idle.

Ah, do you mean this one?
No sleeve on mine, just a long screw.

I always assumed that was a mixture setting screw, but I guess it does disappear into the body where the throttle is so is it just an internal throttle stop adjust?

I'd avoiding touching that, but you reckon that's what I should be fiddling with ?

Yes thats the throttle stop, adjust away
might be worth getting some spray grease in the throttle mech behind there looks dry and that doesnt help as it may be sticking

Thanks! Got it ticking over nicely at about 900, doesn't seem to drop any lower. Much better! Point noted about the lube, will give everything a clean up.

Wish I'd have asked here ages ago

A result in minutes, thanks again guys!! :ok
