Front Seat Belt - Lost it's recoil

Hi all,
Quick question.
I gave a friend a lift the other day. No biggies there. When he left the van and my girlfriend got in the seatbelt had lost it's ability to recoil into the cassette.
Silly question, is this something I can fix?? or is it a case of getting another one.
Sori, have had a look around for an answer but no joy.

somebody posted this tip on here recently, sorry can't remember who to give them the credit.
pull the belt right out and wash it gently with mild detergent, the belt gets full of dirt and body oils and gets stiff making it harder for the spring to recoil it.
from memory you can take some covers off I think and oil it too.

Will have to give this a go - have to manually push my seatbelts back in - never really thought about trying to sort it

Hi - I've had a shot with this recommendation too and after a clean and a spray with silicon mine are also recoiling without the bit of encouragement needed before ! cheers

Did my belts tonight, wipe down with a wet cloth then pledge. Working wonderfully now.
Thanks for the tip
