hi broadly speaking what kind of mpg should you get from a 1900 petrol engine

Kev's right . Overall 20mpg perhaps a trifle more if you hold up a long queue of traffic or make lorries overtake you in the slow lane.

pump your tyres up to the correct pressure and you may even manage 20.1 mpg

I get 24+ at a steady 55mph. A lot less around town!

Depends.....
Empty panel van, driven like a nun maybe 25 on a run
Fully laden camper, driven like your late maybe 15 round town

Pretty much 20 average ,
Our 1.9df camper gets roughly 22 on a run on petrol.

1.9DG, 'medium' load in a pop top camper - last two tankfuls both a fraction over 24mpg. Long runs, steady speeds.

18-20mpg round town though.

With LPG things get a lot better.
I currently pay 60p a litre for it ...so my mpg goes up to 40

Hey Kev, where do you get lpg for 60p? I only live down the road in Kidderminster and its all around 69.9p. The syncro is pretty thirsty so lpg all the time.

There's spot recently opened in Hallet Drive off Brickiln st near the town centre.
Or there's carvers gasses at 61p on the ring road (littles lane)

Petrol seems to be the cheapest of my motoring costs. Take into account depreciation, repairs , tax, servicing etc.

This week my merc has an engine diagnostic fault that MB can't identify and some prat on the M25 ran into the back of me ned wrote off my Citreon (not that it takes a lot to write one off). Only reliable vehicles I have are a 30 year old t25 and a 40year old beetle

I have just done a trip to the highlands 610 miles fully laden van mpg worked out at 25.3 very happy

Around town mine does around 20mpg...

On a motorway journey... sticking to 50mph... I've managed around 28-30mpg

(1.9 DG - 5 speed)

This is all academic though and not the first, second or even third time is been discussed.

In the end it'll do what it does, no matter what it runs on but if you can avoid pressing the accelerator pedal, you'll at least get the best MPG you can.
