Dipstick markers

Without the risk of appearing really thick would I be right in thinking the two dots on the dipstick are the markers and not the bends ?

Better to ask than ruin an engine. I think the bends are to stop it rattling in the tube and also prevent wiping off of the oil as you withdraw it.

Oh your bad bastards, good question well asked with pictures! YES assuming your engine is standard the welded dots are the high and low marks.
