dash light comes on but just stays solid green. I have cleaned the crowns of earths in the past, do they need a re-visit? or bulb holders? relay?

Try taking the relay out and plugging it back in again. That worked for me when mine froze.

Thanks I gave it a wiggle and seems to be back working, maybe it's on it's way out.

Excellent news. I'm glad it worked for you too and the fix didn't cost anything. I guess its just slight corrosion/oxidation causing poor contacts. Mine's worked ever since!
